Rooibos Tea

Rooibos Tea

Rooibos is the tea we use in our Relax Blend.

What is Rooibos Tea?

Rooibos is a reddish-brown, needle-like legume that derives from the leaves of the South African rooibos plant. It is widely cultivated in the Western Cape province of South Africa and is consumed throughout the world. At Javazen, we source our organic Rooibos Tea from South Africa.

Rooibos is a deliciously fruity and woody tasting tea. When brewed, it has a full-bodied, lightly sweet flavor that millions around the world love.

Health benefits of Rooibos Tea

Rooibos is known to support the digestive system and improve blood flow. This helps to relax the body and improve energy levels. If your body is sensitive to caffeine or has trouble digesting coffee, rooibos is perfect consumed in combination with coffee!

It is low in tannins and soothing to the nervous system. Rooibos is brimming with antioxidants. Aspalathin is one polyphenol unique to rooibos while nothofagin is only found in rooibos and the New Zealand red beech. Secondly, rooibos is full of healthy minerals. Because it is high in zinc, iron, copper, magnesium, calcium and manganese, it’s great for healthy bones, teeth, and metabolism. It also supports mood stability as well as healthy circulation, and overall rejuvenation.

Fun Fact: Because there are so many antioxidants found in rooibos, the Cancer Association of South Africa has officially named it “a leading source of anti-cancer chemicals”.
